About Me

I was born near Stroud in Gloucester and moved to the Bridgend area at a young age, and have lived in Porthcawl for over 30 years.

I am married to Michael and have two grown up children as well as two step children.

I spent the majority of my career working in a family retail business.

Political Life

Since 1995 I have been a member of Porthcawl Town Council.

I have been a member of Bridgend County Borough Council representing the Nottage Ward since 2008. I am a member of a number of committees and play a full part in Council Business in order that I can fully actively represent the residents of Nottage.

Voluntary Life

In a voluntary capacity, I have been involved most recently in helping to raise funding for two projects within Porthcawl.

The first of these is the total refurbishment of Porthcawl & Pyle Boxing Club premises on New Road, a project costing approximately £75,000. I am also involved in the refurbishment of the Y.M.C.A in John Street, which is a £500,000 project.

I am a governor on West Park Primary School.

I am a Trustee of Cartrefi Cymru who support people with learning difficulties in supported accommodation and they have a house in Victoria Avenue. In 2011 Cartrefi Cymru took over the Glamorgan Holiday Hotel.

I am a life member of Rest Bay Lifeguard Club and was one of a number of local residents that helped to secure funding for the construction of the Lifeguard Station at Rest Bay.

I also volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind as a "puppy walker" looking after and socialising a puppy from the age of 6 weeks until 14 months of age. I am currently involved in campaigning for all dogs to be microchipped as many guide dogs are being attack by other dogs on a monthly basis which results in them being left traumatised and possibly unable to work, which leaves their owner unable to be as independent as they would wish.
